From ELCA Indigenous Ministries and Tribal Relations:
In 2025, The Coalition to Dismantle the Doctrine of Discovery will offer monthly online training! They will rotate between "Moving Toward Right Relations" and "Decolonization and Organizing for Systems Change" training modules.
From The Coalition to Dismantle the Doctrine of Discovery:
Moving Toward Right Relations is an experiential training designed to provide a guide to Christian and settler-descended volunteers who want to engage in movements for Indigenous Justice. Those who benefit from systems of injustice can cause damage when entering these movements without de-centering their own interests. The training is delivered in two interactive modules and covers topics such as the steps of repair, surfacing core assumptions about justice, engaging in power analysis, and enduring discomfort. Multiple role-plays are provided to practice core skills.
The Decolonization and Organizing for Systems Change training is designed for those wanting to review or learn the fundamentals of grassroots organizing through a decolonizing framework. The training is delivered in two interactive modules and is intended to support those ready to move beyond education and into organizing their networks around a structural change or land recovery campaign at local, state, or federal levels. Multiple role-plays and templates are provided to apply your learning.
Upon registering for any one of these modules, you will be sent a digital PDF copy of our complete training manual before the scheduled training.
You can choose which training to take first, but please take Module 1 of each training before registering for Module 2. Each module is 2 hours.
Moving Toward Right Relations training, Module 1 was held on Saturday, January 18.
Moving Toward Right Relations training, Module 2 is scheduled for Wednesday, January 22, at 2:30pm-4:30pm Hawaii | 3:30pm-5:30pm Alaska | 4:30pm-6:30pm Pacific | 5:30pm-7:30pm Mountain | 6:30pm-8:30pm Central | 7:30pm-9:30pm Eastern | 8:30pm-10:30pm Atlantic.
