During 23 years as an active ELCA pastor I served in 3 very different parish settings—small-town, urban and rural—most recently as Interim Pastor for a small rural congregation. I’ve worked in solo pastor roles as well as in team ministry. Earlier experience as a college-level writing/literature teacher and later an editor in the software industry equipped me for listening deeply to people with varied skills and values.
Currently I am a ‘Active Status’ Coach in the ELCA/NC Synod. I also hold a certification in Team Coaching and have completed a Mentor Coaching program. Supporting leaders as they discover their own gifts for aligning action with vision is my greatest coaching joy. I strive to be respectful of the path a client chooses and patient in the journey. I work best with leaders willing to take a risk, embrace moments of confusion and explore new options—all postures that foster growth.
Beyond coaching, I write for the ELCA’s Gather Magazine, Christ in Our Home and Word in Season. At home I enjoy serving as ‘sous chef’ to my husband, reading voraciously, walking daily in our local park, and catering to a loving Jack Russell terrier and a feisty yellow cat.
Mission: Cultivating Your Calling
Vision: Nobody Journeys Alone
Coaches connect dreams to concrete actions that create change for individuals and congregations.
The ELCA's offices are located on the ancestral homelands of the Peoria, Bodwéwadmi (Potawatomi), Myaamia (Miami), Očhéthi Šakówiŋ (Sioux), Hoocąk (Ho-Chunk), and Kiikaapoi (Kickapoo) tribal nations. We give thanks for their presence here since time immemorial.
